As a material it is very durable and with great hardness. So, it is a synthetic material with a very hard surface, making it very resistant to scratches, abrasion, and stains.
The metal rods are Φ6mm in dimension and are powder coated. Powder coating is a dry coating process used as a metallic finish. It is the application of dry powder through an electrostatic process, which is then "bonded" to the metal through heat.

MAINTENANCE:
The melamine which is the construction material is very easy to clean from stains thanks to its hard surface. You can wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth, and this is enough to make your bookcase look like new again. For persistent stains you can use a mild cleaner.
